How does Fotona Liplase™ Laser Lip Plumping work?

Fotona SMOOTH^® modality Er:YAG produces immediate results that patients will notice. In comparison to injectable fillers, the LipLase™ treatment is non-intrusive and a noteworthy point is that patients produce their own collagen in their lips. With many carefully customized passes, the attributes of ‘ideal lips’ can be accomplished such as the volume, fullness, perfect balance between the upper and lower lips, as well as a well-defined vermilion border.

As the optical energy is transmitted in a single sub-second long pulse sequence to avoid a build-up of heat, the surface tissue will stimulate new collagen production, improving the elasticity and texture in the lips within 6-7 pulses. Fotona LipLase™ is a non-intrusive procedure that gives the patient plumper, velvety lips with a laser as an alternative to injectables. The treatment gives you results that are more natural and softer as the collagen in your lips is encouraged and revived.

When can I see results? How many sessions are required?

For most patients, results can be seen immediately after the first session. Each treatment lasts 15 minutes. For best results, we recommend 6 sessions, where the first 3 sessions are spaced 2 weeks apart, and the other 3 at an interval of one month apart as maintenance. Results can last up to 12 months.

Recovery Time & Post-Procedure Care

Immediately after the treatment, the lips will appear swollen as the laser will cause some swelling. This usually resolves within a couple of hours. There will be a slight superficial peeling on the 2nd to 3rd day. After the treatment, patients will be able to resume their daily activities immediately as there is no downtime. In the aftercare, we advise using SPF 50 lip balm or skin moisturizer and no lipstick should be worn for the next 24 hours. Do not consume spicy food or extremely hot liquids for 3 days. Avoid sports activities or swimming pools and the sun after the procedure.
