Botox Injections FAQ

Wrinkles are just a part of aging, right? Not necessarily. Modern technology and medicine has made growing older a lot more graceful. One useful tool in combating the signs of aging is Botox

If you’re concerned about wrinkles and about looking older than you feel, you’ve probably heard of Botox. However, how much do you really know about this anti-aging treatment?

What is Botox?

Botox is an FDA-approved product used to treat wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, between the eyebrows and on the forehead. Botox is injected safely into the muscles surrounding the area where you’d like to minimize wrinkles (what we call the treatment area). Botox has been used successfully to minimize wrinkles for more than 30 years.

Botox FAQ

If you’re considering getting Botox injections to help erase your wrinkles, you probably have a lot of questions. We’ll try to answer some of the most common below:

1. How long does a treatment take?

A typical treatment appointment takes around 15 to 20 minutes.

2. How long do the benefits of Botox last?

The results from a Botox injection are not immediate. It usually takes around 7-10 days for results to become apparent. However, they can sometimes be noticed as early as seven days from the day of your treatment. You can expect the results to last around three to four months.

3. Does it hurt to get a Botox injection?

Most people report feeling a slight pin prick and a little pressure during the injection, although some people don’t feel a thing.

4. What should I expect on treatment day?

On your treatment day, our experienced medical team will tell you everything that will happen before we do anything. We start conservatively and give you the dosage that matches your physical size and weight as well as the desired treatment area. To prepare for your treatment, we ask that you refrain from drinking alcohol and exercising for 24 hours and that you avoid massages and facials right before your treatment. Since we start conservatively, we may schedule a follow up appointment in a 10-14 days to see that you’ve gotten the desired results.

5. Is Botox right for me?

Although Botox is safe for most patients, there are some people for whom Botox is not recommended. This includes anyone with an active infection in or around the treatment area, anyone with inflammation in or around the treatment area and anyone with an allergy or hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin. Getting older doesn’t have to mean looking older. Botox injections can help erase those tell-tale wrinkles and make you look and feel younger.
